# April 24 - The Pad Modulates the Drums

## Focus
Let the atmospheric layer influence rhythm, tone, and density.

## Modules
Your current drum system, your current pad system, Doepfer A-119, 266t, Marbles, Vector Space, Erica Compressor

## Manuals To Skim
A-119, 266t, Marbles, Vector Space, Compressor

## 60-Minute Plan
1. `0:00-0:10` Extract an envelope follower or dynamic CV from the pad.
2. `0:10-0:25` Send that control to one drum parameter such as accent amount, decay, hat density, or distortion depth.
3. `0:25-0:40` Add a second slower relationship using pad pitch or harmonic change to influence a sequencer or probability source.
4. `0:40-0:55` Keep the kick mostly protected while upper percussion reacts.
5. `0:55-1:00` Note whether the drums now feel more narrative.

## Questions
- What drum parameter best reflects pad intensity?
- Did the groove stay coherent after the coupling?
- Which reactions sounded intentional and which sounded accidental?
- How much should the kick be isolated from the atmosphere?
- Does the patch now feel like one organism or two separate layers?
