# April 16 - Dark Harmony and Voice Leading

## Focus
Make the pad ominous through note relationships, not only through effects.

## Modules
Qu-Bit Chord, Acid Rain Chainsaw, Mutable Instruments Marbles, Vermona Melodicer, Intellijel Metropolix, After Later Audio Ornament and Crime, ADDAC-207 Quantizer

## Manuals To Skim
Chord, Marbles, Melodicer, Metropolix, Ornament and Crime, ADDAC-207

## 60-Minute Plan
1. `0:00-0:10` Choose one tonal center and three dark interval ideas: minor second, tritone, suspended fourth, minor sixth, or clustered unison detune.
2. `0:10-0:25` Use Melodicer, Metropolix, Marbles, or Ornament and Crime to generate a small pitch loop.
3. `0:25-0:40` Voice the pad so not every note changes at once.
4. `0:40-0:55` Compare a static drone with a slowly changing progression.
5. `0:55-1:00` Write down the interval or chord quality that sounded most unsettling in your rack.

## Questions
- Which interval gave the strongest emotional reaction?
- Does movement in the top voice matter more than full chord changes?
- What happens when the root stays fixed but upper tones drift?
- Which sequencer or quantizer encourages the most useful darkness?
- Is the harmony tense enough without becoming melodramatic?
