# April 14 - Filtered Dread

## Focus
Use filters and resonant shaping to turn neutral oscillators into ominous textures.

## Modules
Mutable Instruments Ripples, Erica Synths Black Multi Mode VCF, Klavis Grainity VCF, Bastl Cinnamon VCF, Blue Lantern Voks Analog Filter, Doepfer A-121-3, SSF Autodyne

## Manuals To Skim

## 60-Minute Plan
1. `0:00-0:10` Patch one oscillator into three filters in succession and listen for distinct personalities.
2. `0:10-0:25` Choose the filter that gives the most useful tension at moderate resonance.
3. `0:25-0:40` Add slow cutoff modulation and compare lowpass, bandpass, and mixed responses.
4. `0:40-0:55` Try pinging or self-oscillating one filter as an extra texture voice.
5. `0:55-1:00` Decide whether your ideal ominous pad is smooth-dark, hollow-dark, or abrasive-dark.

## Questions
- Which filter sounds haunted at low resonance?
- Which filter creates movement without obvious "wah" behavior?
- Does bandpass help you carve space for drums?
- When does resonance turn from tension into cartoon?
- What frequency area makes the pad feel coldest?
